LAHORE  - The Pakistan Awami Tehreek has welcomed the decision of Supreme Court in favour of military courts.

“Terrorists capitalised on lacunae of judicial system & weaknesses of prosecution. The SC verdict will plug all such legal loopholes,” PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri tweeted on Wednesday.

In a separate statement issued by the party head-office, Dr Qadri was also quoted as saying: “The decision will put positive impact on war against terror. I believe it will be helpful in operation Zarb-e-Azab”

Without mentioning the names, he hoped the military courts would also take actions against the political and religious parties indirectly funding the terrorist outfits in the country. He requested those making “propaganda” against the military courts to stop now and let the army and law enforcement agencies to fully focus on elimination of terrorism. PAT chief also emphasized on the PML-N government, though he doubted the government intention, to get fully implement the national action plan as without it the war against terrorists would not be succeed.

In another statement, PAT stated that every Pakistani was in debt of Rs100,000 due to corruption and bad governance of the ruling party. In a response to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar statement in national assembly, the PAT said the sit-ins had nothing to do with the losses to the national exchequer rather they were because of government policies.

“Massive load shedding, floods, corruption and bad governance are the reasons behind the weak economy,” it said.

PAT spokesperson alleged Rs 500 billion circular debt in power sector, Rs40 billion theft in the oil and gas sector, Rs100 billion fraud of two metro bus projects during so far government tenure were the mega scandals and they put worst impact on economy.
