THE US military personnel are based in Sihala Police Training College for the purpose of training our policemen. This is what the US government has been telling everybody. Certainly, there is more to it than meets the eye. Investigations carried out by this newspaper reveal that the deployment of the American staff is meant for the surveillance of our sensitive nuclear installations, the Khan Research Laboratories, that are at a short distance from the college premises. So far as training is concerned, no Pakistani official has ever received any kind of training from the US staff in the past six months. It has also been found that the US staff has stored large quantities of weapons inside the college. This provides grist to the mill of various reports in the media, both national and international, indicating the presence of special US squads planning to wrest control of our nuclear assets at the right time. Given all these suspicious activities in Pakistan, it should be clear that the US is up to some sinister plan. After all, the notorious US spy agency Blackwater now Xe Worldwide speaks volumes for the US designs to harm us. The Marriot hotel bomb blast when the US Marines off-loaded steel containers and took them inside the hotel bypassing security should be an eye-opener for all. The Xe Worldwide has been involved in several other acts as well. The latest one is that of spying on the Islamabad Naval Headquarters just days before the bomb blast. The recent assassination of two Pakistan Army Brigadiers in Islamabad also appears to be a part of the same plot; the arrest of the alleged mastermind confessed to working for the Inter Risk, the security firm hired by the US ostensibly for the protection of US diplomats. But the situation continues to get worse. Reports of covert US operatives caught without basic identity documents like passport and visa and engaged in harmful activities are becoming a daily occurrence. There are fears that the construction of the world's largest US embassy in Islamabad is aimed to broaden such operations against Pakistan. What is most unfortunate is the way our federal government has been trying to ingratiate itself with their US masters. And so is our Ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani whose unwavering kowtowing to the Americans is nothing short of a national disgrace.
