Need stressed for disabled persons’ rehabilitation I Special seats in parliament demanded

RAHIM YAR KHAN/NANKA-NA SAHIB/SHAHKOT  - The International Day for Persons with Disabilities was observed with aimed to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities here the other day. In this connection, an event was organised by the Children Welfare Society. A large number of people participated in it while PML-N District President Mian Khalid Shaheen was chief guest on the function.
Addressing to the participants Mian Khalid Shaheen said that special persons were part of society and they had equal rights. He said that service to disabled persons was religious duty and district government should asked the government for providing better facilities to disabled persons.  On the occasion, Deputy Director Muhammad Hussain Tahir appreciated the celebration the day for disabled persons. He said that through event the problems faced by disabled persons highlighted. He said that everyone should accept the disable persons as a society member and should provide them all facilities.
School for Special Persons Principal Emanuel Aami said that he was celebrating the day with the celebration of 10th birthday of school for special persons. Asjad Warraich, Dr Kamaran, sister Zeenat, Maulana Rafiq Mujahid, Muhammad Hussain and Abdul Khaliq Shakir also spoke on the occasion. Later, Khalid Shaheen and other guests distributed 150 gifts among special persons and cash prizes among 30 disabled persons.
Meanwhile, special children can play a progressive and constructive role in the betterment and development of the country.
Guests remarked while elaborating the importance of the special children on World Special Children Day ceremony here in Special Education Centre the other day. The centre was very skilfully decorated and a stall was also installed to display the items made by special children. They also performed different skits, tableau and received appreciation from the guests.
Guests including Sardar Janam Singh, DO Panning Shahzad Saeed, DO Labour Imran Haider Tipu, DO budget, and school management committee member Ali Rizwan and others guest congratulated the Principal Shahzia Noureen, teachers , and school management for organizing the event. Speakers said that society and government institutions must patronized these special little angels so that they can play a constructive role in community.
On the occasion, a computer lab (Baba Guru Nanak Computer Lab) donated by the Sikh community for the centre was also inaugurated by the guests.
School management also demanded the Punjab and district government for more teaching staff, transport and other facilities for the centre. Special and handicapped enjoy first class citizen status in civil societies but in our country they are even deprived of basic human rights.
HIC District coordinator and PPP City General Secretary Mian Shoukat Ali Shoukat stated while addressing a procession organized on international day of handicaps.
He said that disables are proffered in every field and governments never compromise on their rights in developed countries while in our country, government and private organizations are involved in corruption of millions rupees handicaps are devoid of their rights.
