Gilani refuses to appear before NAB


ISLAMABAD - Former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has once again refused to appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in case pertaining to illegal appointment case of Adnan Khawaja, former MD Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL),TheNation learnt here on Wednesday.
Earlier,Gilani did not appear before the FIA twice in  a case related to the illegal appointment of former DG Haj Rao Shakeel Ahmed, last month.
The counsel for former Prime Minister, Ch Faisal Hussain while talking to this scribe said that they would submit the reply if the NAB summons in two or three days.
He ,however, said that they would have the same stance before NAB as was adopted before FIA in Haj scam.
Hussain said that under Article 248 (1); Prime Minister, Federal Ministers, Chief Ministers, Governors had immunity and the powers used by them in official capacity could not be called into question.
He further said that the decisions of the Chief Executive taken during his official capacity could not be challenged in any court of law under the Constitution.
NAB the other day, had summoned former Prime Minister to appear before it on December 11th to answer the queries in connection with illegal appointment case of Adnan Khawaja.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani during his stint as Prime Minister had appointed Adnan Khawaja as Managing Director OGDCL ignoring the fact that he held Matriculation qualification and was convicted by a NAB court.
Later, Supreme Court through a suo motu notice had declared these orders null and void.
