KARACHI  - A Japanese film show titled “Hope of Recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake” is on screen at the Japan Information and Culture Center, Consulate-General of Japan at Karachi.

A statement on Wednesday said that Akira Ouchi, Consul General of Japan at Karachi, inaugurated this event. He expressed gratitude and appreciation to Pakistani people who showed solidarity and support to the disaster-affected Japanese.

Akira further stated that Japan felt ‘Kizuna (bond of friendship) with the international society including Pakistani people in particular for their assistance.

He also said that the affected area of Japan has already recovered from the disaster and the reconstruction is well on the way. The statement pointed out that the Japanese film show was organized for the purpose of showing ‘Genki na Nippon (Vigorous Japan)’ to Pakistani people to show that Japan is recovering from the disaster in a spirit of solidarity and never giving up.

The Japanese film show will continue till December 7. The documentary films on recovery of Japan and drama films, which depict how Japanese people in the difficult situation strengthen ties with people to overcome it.

The film show concludes the series of events to commemorate the 60th year of the diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Japan, the statement added.
