KARACHI  - At least seven people were killed in various localities of the metropolis on Thursday. A police informer was gunned down during an alleged encounter in Ahsanabad area.

Police said the victim namely Abdul Rasool, 40, informed the police about the drugs den. When he along with three policemen raided the drugs den, the culprits opened fired on them. Police informer succumbed to injuries on the way to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. However, the culprits managed to escape from the scene.

Following the incident extra contingent of police was called. It recovered a pistol, 500 bullets of Kalashnikov and 1.5-kg heroin, said DSP Sohrab Goth Khalid Khan. Separately, a man was gunned down and another was wounded near mini bus stop within the jurisdiction of Manghopir police station. Police said the victim was identified as Abdul Rehman, 25. Both of them were standing at the bus stop when some unidentified armed riders came and sprayed bullets on them.

They managed to escape from the scene.

Meanwhile, a man was gunned down near Qanzal Eemaan Masjid within the jurisdictions of Jamshaid Quarter police station. Police said the victim had yet to be identified. Police further said the victim was going somewhere when some unidentified armed men targeted him. The body was taken to hospital for autopsy and later moved to morgue for identification.

Two tortured-mark dead bodies of men were found from Niazi Chowk, Lyari. Police said the identification of both the victims had yet to be ascertained. The bodies of both the victims were taken to Civil Hospital for autopsy and later moved to morgue for identification.

Similarly, a body of a man was found from the bushes of Super Highway. Police said the body was 4-5 days older. The body was later moved to morgue after medicolegal formalities at hospital.

Another body of a man was found from Keamari. Police said the identity of the victim had yet to be ascertained. The body was 10 days older. Police shifted the body to morgue for identification.
