The Punjab government has advised grams/wheat growers to use modern agriculture technology and methods to boost per acre yield. This was stated by DDO Agriculture Rana Khan Bahadher Javed while addressing a seminar on “Boosting up agriculture production” here the other day.

He said that the Punjab government had initiated a mega project titled “Punjab irrigated agriculture productivity improvement project” at a cost of Rs36 billion under which drip and sprinkler irrigation system would be installed on 1,20,000 acres of Barani areas of the province at subsidized rates.

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Officer Muhammad Sibtain said that supply of good quality seed was the base of sustainable and developing economy. “For improving the seed quality Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) scientists were making appreciable efforts in agriculture research sector, he said. A large number of farmers from all villages of the Thal attended the seminar.
