LAHORE  - Dr Rajmohan Gandhi, Research Professor at the University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign, US, delivered a lecture on "Abdul Ghaffar Khan: His Political Philosophy and Influence" at Forman Christian College, Lahore.

As the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, Prof Gandhi had the privilege of knowing Bacha Khan, first meeting him at the age of 10. Prof Gandhi described aspects of the life and philosophy of the Pakhtun leader, emphasizing his courage, humour and gentleness.

The lecture was followed by an introduction to Rajmohan Gandhi’s most recent book “Punjab: From Aurengzeb to Mountbatten”, with Dr Mubashar Hassan and Jugnu Mohsin reviewing aspects of the book and highlighting little known aspects of Punjab’s history. The event was attended by faculty and students from FCC and other long-established colleges in Lahore: GCU, Kinnaird College for Women, and LCWU.

UBL donates Rs5m for FCC scholarships

United Bank Ltd presented a cheque of Rs 5 million on behalf of Sir Anwar Pervez, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBL and Chairman of Bestway Group, UK to Forman Christian College (A Chartered University). The donation funds the Bestway Scholarships at Forman Christian College University.

The cheque was presented by Mr Ali Hasnain, Group Executive of UBL, to Mr Charles Ramsey, Academic Director of the Centre for Dialogue and Action at FCC. Present at the occasion were Mr Shahbaz Nazar, General Manager (UBL) and Ms Maliha Khan CCPR Head (UBL).

The representatives of FCC included Mr Haroon Samson (Chief Advancement Officer) and Mr Bilal Ala-ud-din (Manager Corporate Relations). Sir Anwer Pervez has been actively supporting FCC and 135 students have already benefitted from these scholarships.
