Rallies praise volunteers’ role

The International Volunteers Day was observed by the National Commission for Human Development and Rescue-1122.
A rally was taken out from Press Club to Fawarah Chowk and a seminar was also organised in a local college where speakers included NCHD District Coordinator Shahzad Bashir, Emergency Officer Sibghatullah and Safety Officer Shoukat Ali. They highlighted the services of volunteers for the masses in their hour of miseries and difficulty.
They appreciated the functioning of Rescue-1122, squads of which reach the place of accidents promptly. They said that serving ailing humanity is a form of worship and stressed the need for promotion of volunteerism.
In Attock, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Dr Mian Muhammad Ashfaq said that volunteers play vital role in maintaining peace and helping the helpless in case of any emergency. At present, almost 800 volunteers are serving in Attock while 2,300 are placed in reserve, he said addressing the participants of a rally taken out on the occasion of World Volunteers Day.
He said that for prosperity, the role of volunteers is very important.
He said in the civilized societies, citizens extend their full cooperation in the implementation of rules and regulations. He said that time is ripe to promote volunteerism in the society to provide better services for the people during emergency. The rally was taken out from Liaqat Ali Khan Shaheed Stadium and concluded at Fawarah Chowk. People from different walk of life participated in the rally.
