Islamabad - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday granted protective bail to Ejaz Chaudhry who recently left Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

A single-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi conducted the hearing of a bail petition moved by Ejaz Chaudhry through his counsel Saif Ullah Advocate. Chaudhry prayed to the court to grant him protective bail as he was being victimised by the government in a fake case against him after he left the ruling PML (N) and joined the PTI.

His counsel contended that his client had been implicated in a fake case registered in 2003. Advocate Saifullah argued that Ejaz Chaudhry’s name was not included in the case but he was being politically victimised following the shifting of his loyalty from the PML-N to the PTI.

Counsel representing Ejaz adopted that the case was registered against Muhammad Ejaz s/o Ghulam Qadir while his client’s name is Ejaz Ahmed s/o Muhammad Ahmed, adding that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and police were harassing Chaudhry and conducting raids on his residence.

After hearing the arguments, the court directed the applicant MNA Ejaz Chaudhry to appear before the court on the next date of hearing and granted him protective bail for a week.

Ejaz Chaudhry won the NA seat from NA-108 Mandi Bahauddin in the May 2013 general elections. He has recently joined the PTI due to his reservations over PML-N’s policies.
