Islamabad - The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) is meeting here on Tuesday to consider 23 projects, worth billion of rupees, including the Evacuation of Power from 2x660 MW Coal-Based Power Plant at Thar.

According the agenda of the meeting available with The Nation a total of 26 projects, including three concept clearances, are proposed to be discussed in the meeting.

There are six projects in the energy sector including Evacuation of Power from 2x660 MW Thar Coal Based SSRL/SECL Power Plant at Thar worth Rs23,452.66 million, that will be discussed in the meeting.

The project has a Foreign Exchange Component (FEC) of Rs12,441.61 million.

Enhancement in Transformation Capacity of NTDC System by extension and augmentation of existing grid stations worth Rs16,567.42 million with the FEC of Rs12,017.72 million.

Conversion of existing 220-kV Substation at Bund Road, Kala Shah Kaku, Ravi and Nishatabad to the GIS Technology Rs5,702.52 million with the FEC of Rs3172.93 million, Evacuation of Power from 500 MW Wind Power Projects at Jhimpir Cluster at Rs6585.00 million, which includes the FEC of Rs9,226 million, 500-kV Chakwal Substation Rs7,027.98 million, including the FEC of Rs3,824.80 million and Evacuation of Power from 350-MW Siddiq Sons Energy Coal-Fired Power Plant near Port Qasim Rs2,983.02 million including FEC of  Rs1,230.36 million.

In water sector, two projects including the project of Payment Compensation to Affectees of Mirani due to the flood of 2007, Rs4,305.890 million and detailed engineering design and tender documents of Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project Rs1,097.760 million, will be discussed in the meeting.

In physical planning and housing sector, four projects including Improvement and Special Repair Blocks No 1 and IV, Markaz G-6, Islamabad (NAB), construction of official residence for honourable speaker of National Assembly in Sector F-5/2, Islamabad, construction of camp office for Federal Shariat Court at Peshawar and extension of Intelligence Bureau Academy at H-11/1, Islamabad (Phase-I) will be discussed in the CDWP.

In governance, two projects including Public Sector Enterprise Reform Project (PSER) Rs2,276.54, and procurement of equipments for improved security and anti-terrorism measure (revised) Rs403.076 million will also be discussed in the meeting.

In transport and communication sector, two projects including widening/improvement of road from Ghumanwala to Baigpur in NA-100 District Gujranwala and feasibility studies for up gradation of Existing Main Line-II (ML-II) and up-gradation and extension of ML-III in connection with the CPEC (revised) will be discussed.

In the health sector, one project for the provision of equipment for five PAEC Cancer Hospitals worth Rs1,210.00 million will be discussed at the CDWP meeting.

In higher education sector, two projects including up-gradation of the National Institute of Science and Technical Education (NISTE) Islamabad into Skill University (Part-I) and overseas scholarships for MS/MPhil leading to PhD in selected fields will also be discussed at the CDWP meeting.

In information technology, the project for umbrella PC-I for Private Cloud Data Center (FBR), and strengthening FBR’s capacity in fiscal research and tax policy analysis, will also get discussed.

In industries and commerce, provision of infrastructure in Quetta Industrial Phase-IV (revised), in Agriculture and Food the project of Risk-Based Control of Foot and Mouth Disease in Pakistan.

Similarly, in devolution and area development, the project of development schemes of District Shangla will be discussed at the CDWP meeting.

Meanwhile, concept clearance for three projects including the capacity building of 300 education managers in “Office management and communication skills” from all over the Pakistan worth Rs2,2428 million, vocational school in public-private partnership worth Rs497.832 million and Pakistan Agribusiness and Agro-Food Industry Development Programme (PAAIAD)–UNIDO will also be discussed in the CDWP meeting.
