ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong and Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed have expressed confidence that early harvest projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will be completed by next year which will pave the way for a bright future for the people of entire in region.

Speaking at the official launching of CPEC’s website here on Tuesday, they said, the leadership of the countries is committed to turn the CPEC’s dream into reality. Both the governments are satisfied with implementation process of this game-changer project.

The website (www.cpecinfo.com) hosted by Pakistan-China Institute was described as most authoritative source of information relating to CPEC.

The inauguration ceremony was also addressed Mir Hasal Khan Bazanjo, Minister of Port and Shipping. China Radio International (CRI) is a coordinating partner of the website that will be responsible for release of its Urdu version. Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost was also present on the occasion.

According to Chinese media’s report, president Xi Jinping in his message to President Mamnoon Husain lauded the momentum of growing Sino-Pak relationship and hoped that CPEC will bring benefits not only to the people of Pakistan but the entire region.

Ambassador Sun Weidong underlined the importance of the project, stating it is in line with spirit of Silk Road that meant to promote peace, security and prosperity world over.

CPEC, he said is a major and pilot project one Road one Belt’s initiative, proposed by President Xi Jinping during his visit to Pakistan in 2013.

The CPEC is an unprecedented framework that boasts dozens of major projects and billions of dollars in investments, and will create tens of thousands of jobs here. Pakistani people are already benefiting from the "early harvests" yielded by the initiative.

The foremost projects are almost all power plants designed to tackle Pakistan's dire shortage of electricity. He noted that the CPEC has entered into full implementation stage, showing remarkable project progress on each front.  Open of Gwadar, he said is a major breakthrough to this effect.

The ambassador also called for promoting a strong environment for ensuring security and positive opinion towards CPEC. Appreciating the Website, he hoped it will serve a comprehensive source of information for all the interested groups and people.

The role and contribution of Senator Mushahid Hussain is highly commendable in deepening the relationship of the two countries at people-to-people level, he added.

Senator Hasal Khan Bazanjol said launching of official facts-based website is an important development, as it could help in overcoming controversies and differences over CPEC.

He said the CPEC will be a major driving force for the economic progress of regional countries particularly Afghanistan and Iran.

Senator Mushahid Hussain paid rich tributes to Ambassador Sun Weidong for his most active role in socio-economic development of the country, through CPEC.

Ambassador Sun has emerged as a living symbol of Pak-China fast growing friendship, he said. CPEC is single biggest-ever comprehensive agreement signed between the two countries in the international relationship, he added.
