SRINAGAR: In Indian held Kashmir (IHK) the Mirwaiz-led Hurriyet forum has denounced the continued detention of joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, terming the action as acceptance of political defeat by the “puppet” authorities.

The Hurriyet forum said that as per the programme issued by the joint resistance leadership, peaceful protest marches were to be staged from Hyderpora, Nigeen and Maisuma, but the programme was sabotaged through enforcement of restrictions in these areas, said a press release issued today.

“Mirwaiz who had to march from his Nigeen residence to Lal Chowk continued to remain under house arrest while all roads leading to his residence were sealed and addition personnel of forces were deployed outside his residence by the authorities to prevent him from marching towards Lal Chowk,” the statement added.

It denounced the continued house arrest of Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and detention of Muhammad Yasin Malik.
