DERA GHAZI KHAN-The Young Doctors Association yesterday observed strike and staged a sit-in in front of DG Khan Teaching Hospital’s MS office, venting their rage and concern against the central induction policy introduced by the Punjab health department.

The protesting doctors chanted against the health authorities and rejected “the policy for the induction of Postgraduate Trainee.” They were chanting slogans “Central Induction Policy ky khatmy tak Jang rahy gi Jang rahy gi”, “Say no to victimisation” “Say no to slavery” “No Outdoors, No Indoors” Stay strong, Stay tuned, Stay at home” Long live unity and YDA” and “We want Security”. They boycotted both the OPD and indoor and pledged to get their grievances heard in corridors of power.

Talking to The Nation, Acting YDA DG Khan President Dr Atiqur Rehman alleged that the Punjab government is victimising the doctors on baseless excuses, which should be stopped immediately.

Dr Atiq demanded that adhoc doctors should be regularised, targeted transfer of young doctors should be cancelled and the government must provide job security to the young doctors.

He threatened that if their demands are not accept, the YDA would be constrained to hold protests across the province on December 7, 2016 (Wednesday).
