KARACHI - Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair has said that eradication of crippling disease of polio is a priority of the government and preventive measures are being undertaken in this regard.
He was talking to the president of the Rotary Club International, Ian HS Riseley, who called on him at the Governor House here on Tuesday. The chief of Polio Plus Committee, Aziz Memon, was also present on the occasion. The governor said that awareness can be fostered among the masses through education and as such promotion of education is also the priority of the government.
He lauded the cooperation of the Rotary Club International towards efforts of Pakistan for the elimination of polio.
Zubair said that creating awareness among the people is of immense significance and that this should continue on a regular basis. He also appreciated the contributions of the Polio Plus Committee.
Governor said that with improvement of law and order, hurdles in the way of polio campaigns, have also been eliminated.
Ian Riseley apprised the Governor of the step for elimination of polio in Sindh as well as for the promotion of education.
He also praised the cooperation of the government in ongoing drive against polio.
Riseley sad that Rotary International would continue its cooperation of the elimination of polio.
