Experts call for promoting business through internet

SIALKOT-Experts urged female entrepreneurs to ensure the proper use of social media tools for the promotion of their businesses and ensuring their easy access to the international trade markets.
They stated this while addressing the participants of an awareness seminar titled “Online Business through Social Media Tools for Women Entrepreneurs”. It was at SCCI Auditorium under the auspices of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
The experts added that the role of the social media was developing in modern business world.
SCCI’s Departmental Committee for Women Entrepreneurs Chairperson Dr Mariyam Nouman presided over the event. A large number of the businesswomen attended the seminar.
Addressing the particpants, Hassan Shahid, Chapter Director for Startup Grind -Google, a programme for entrepreneurs and businesses powered by Google under the category of Google for Entrepreneurs, said that women entrepreneurs of Sialkot could expand their online businesses by using the social media tools and by crafting an effective social media strategy in the modern regime of technology advancement.
He said that the social media tools could open new vista of online businesses for the women entrepreneurs. Google’s representative Hassan Shahid said that the search engine was ready to provide its global services to the Sialkot-based women entrepreneurs for expanding their online businesses worldwide.
Dr Mariyam Nouman said that presence of a business on social media now has become need of the hour. She said that it was considered more feasible for the females to carry out businesses within their premises.
She said, “For the economic growth & development of the country, it is imperative that the female population play their role effectively. In this regard, trade bodies should take steps to encourage women entrepreneurship and provide them with awareness about different dynamics of business.” She said, “I believe that the Industry of Sialkot can immensely benefit from the potential of our female entrepreneurs and I assure all of you that such awareness sessions would be conducted in future.”
WRC Coordinator Mehmooda Nadeem said that the seminar was a big opportunity for the women entrepreneurs/SCCI members to learn a lot about the techniques and importance of the online business by using social media tools. The participants were told that there was a time when social media was considered by some as a passing fad. Now, there are over 3 billion internet users-and over 2 billion of them have active social media, he noted.
They added that about 90 percent of marketers claimed that social media generated immense exposure for their companies. They added that the growing social media scene has given small business owners yet another way to promote their businesses online for relatively little investment. In fact, htye added, time is the most significant cost when it comes to social media. Since most small business owners are busy running all aspects of their businesses, they said.
Despite the fact that 92% of small businesses agree that social media is important for their business and that majority of people uses Facebook for their social media marketing, they added, According to the experts, 92% of marketers in 2014 claimed that social media marketing was important for their business, with 97% of marketers currently participating in social media but 85% of participants aren’t sure what social media tools are the best to use.
