TOBA TEK SINGH - A Punjab Highway Patrol Police (PHPP) post will be set up at Toba-Khikha-Pirmahal Road near Adda Khikha and another on Toba-Akal Wala Road, pledged an officer.
Punjab police Additional IG and PHPP in charge Amjad Saleemi during his to Toba on Tuesday, was apprised that commuters faced with robberies on both the roads due to the unavailability of patrolling of police especially in the night. He also laid foundation stone of the building of new PHPP post on Toba-Gojra road near Chak 284 JB. He told reporters that the building would be constructed within 10 months and an amount of Rs2.5 million for the completion of first phase of its construction had already been released.
He added that there were 12,000 kilometer highways in Punjab where PHPP had 350 posts to protect and help the motorists. At least 90 percent crime rate had been lowered on the roads, he claimed.
Outlaw killed in shootout
BAHAWALNAGAR-A wanted criminal was killed in a shootout with police occurred following the kidnapping of a woman by the outlaw here in the remit of Bakhshan Khan in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to police, Sajid alias Saji, resident of Depalpur was wanted by the police in many cases of heinous crimes.
The other night Sajid stormed a house situated in the limits of Shehr Farid Police and kidnapped a woman at gunpoint after looting the house.
The outlaw along with the woman holed-up in fields when the police got- a tip-off about his presence. The police spotted the outlaw with the help of a drone camera, but came across intense firing by the outlaw as the police reached the spotted place. The police retaliated and during crossfire, Sajid alias Saji sustained fatal gunshot wounds and died instantly. The police, however, recovered the woman safely. The dead body was shifted to THQ Hospital Chishtian for medico-legal formalities. The Bakhshan Police have launched further investigation.
