LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab government has created conducive atmosphere for the promotion of investment and an autonomous Investment Board has been set up for this purpose. He directed that the procedure of investment be made further simplified for the encouragement of investors so that they might not face any problem. He was presiding over a meeting with regard to promotion of investment in the province here on Saturday. MNA Pervaiz Malik, Chairman Special Initiatives Haroon Khawaja, Vice Chairman Punjab Investment Board Rizwan Ullah Khan, Secretaries of Livestock and Agriculture and concerned officers were present. The meeting reviewed implementation of agreements made during investment conference held at Dubai. Addressing the meeting, the CM said vast opportunities of investment were available in various sectors in Punjab and solid steps had been taken for the provision of best facilities to the investors. Indigenous resources will have to be developed for achieving the goal of self-reliance and had this comprehensive strategy been adopted for development of these resources during last 63 years, then we would not have to beg from others, he maintained, adding that agreements had been made with various countries for investment in agriculture, livestock, energy and other sectors and for the first time in the history of the country, Halal meat had been exported. He appreciated the role of Punjab Investment Board for promotion of investment and asked that it should take more steps for further promotion of investment. Earlier, Vice Chairman Punjab Board of Investment informed about the steps with regard to investment and interest of investors in various sectors and progress of the agreements made during Dubai Conference.
