LAHORE The Natos illegal commercial containers are being smuggled into Pakistan from Turkey in guise of relief goods for flood affectees. Sources said that this practice was being continued in connivance with the agents of Turkish Railways, Pakistan Railways Advisory and Consultancy Services (PRACS). Sources said that suspicious containers were brought to Margalla Dry Port in Pakistan via Zahidan by misleading the Iranian officials. The illegal entry of these containers is not only affecting Pakistan-Iran relations but also causing huge loss to already cash-stricken railways economy. The Turkish government has sent containers consisting of relief items through ECO train running between Iran and Turkey in May 2010. A Turkish railway agent Ahmed Nadali included seven commercial containers into the relief consignment. Pakistan Railways Chairman Shahid Raja showed his ignorance about the issue, however it would be investigated thoroughly. The railways union leaders including Sheikh Anwar, Fazal Wahid and Shaukat Ali have appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take action against this malpractice.
