LAKKI MARWAT - A 10-day training workshop for the primary schoolteachers on new English medium course began in the district on Wednesday.
Training of teachers is the first step towards implementation of government's plan to enforce uniform curriculum from the coming academic session. Over 500 primary schoolteachers are being trained simultaneously at different training centres in the three subjects including English, general knowledge and mathematics of grade one.  "The training centres have been established at the primary schools of Lakki city, Sher Zaman Dalokhel, Manjiwala, Landiwah, Tajazai, Tajori, Serai Gambila, Sera Naurang, Asmatabad Ghaznikhel, Masha Mansoor and Titterkhel localities", said DEO Nazir Khan.
He told that 10 local trainers and 18 from DI Khan and Bannu districts would impart training to the teachers on new English medium course of grade one. "The English medium course will be taught in the public sectors primary schools from the new academic session commencing in April," he maintained.
He said the new course would bring positive changes in the educational system, besides brining the public sector schools at par with other standard and reputable institutions. The DEO said that training would help teachers impart concepts of textbooks with participatory and active learning approach.
Meanwhile, a literary function was held in Comrade Public High School at Serai Gambila locality on Wednesday. Students of different grades exhibited their talent and skills in co-curriculum activities. They also presented speeches on different topics, national songs and other tableau and received applause from the participants.
Elementary and secondary education department assistant district officer Nisar Muhammad who was the chief guest on the occasion distributed prizes among the students.
He said that active participation in healthy activities was helpful for students to keep themselves physically and mentally fit for getting education.
He called upon the students to focus on their studies and avoid spending their precious time in unnecessary engagements. "The academic session is near to end and annual examinations are coming closer, therefore the teachers should prepare their students for the examination", he told.
