P&G employees dedicate quality time at SOS

Children’s Village

KARACHI (PR): As part of P&G’s effort to engage employees in the company’s community programmes and its Diversity and Inclusion mission which aims to recognize and celebrate the uniqueness and authenticity of each employee, P&G employees recently visited the SOS Children’s Village and dedicated quality time to spend with the children there.

In volunteering their time, P&G people endeavored to spread cheer and happiness by creating a memorable day for the children through the highly anticipated ‘Funfest’ event. Around 145 children joined over 50 P&G volunteers in various fun-filled activities aimed at promoting a spirit of collaboration, team-work, healthy competition and passion to win. P&G's dedication to doing this is grounded in its Purpose to improve lives of Pakistani people in need. Through its social responsibility programmes, P&G seeks to provide everyday basics to help create the experience of home and improve everyday health and confidence for people in need.

DHA conducts polio eradication campaign

KARACHI (PR): DHA attaches great importance to the health care and wellbeing of community as its social corporate responsibility. DHA Medical Centre provided all assistance to Saddar Zone Medical Team in launching Polio Eradication Campaign in Defence this year.

The one-week campaign continued from Jan 22 to 28, 2018. A polio corner was established at DHA Medical Centre where children were administered polio drops. 36 polio teams of volunteers centrally gathered at DHA Medical Centre who were given necessary briefing/instructions and provided polio drops and other medical accessories for administering polio drops in DHA Phase-5,6,7 and 8 areas. Polio teams visited DHA schools and homes of DHA residents and administered polio drops to children under 5 years of age. The mass vaccination campaign was successfully conducted with a spirited zeal. The well trained volunteers motivated the parents wherever they found people resisting against vaccinating their children.

Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali asked DHA medical setup to extend all support in the ongoing polio campaign in the city ensuring that no child should suffer from a vaccine preventable disease for not getting vaccinated.

 FWO, Balochistan govt sign water purchase agreement

LAHORE (PR): FWO and govt of Balochistan (GoB) have signed a water purchase agreement.

The agreement was signed by Chief Secretary Balochistan Aurangzeb Haque on behalf of provincial government and director general FWO Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal. FWO, through this agreement, has committed to provide 2 MGD of desalinated drinkable water to Gwadar city through insulation of a reverser osmosis desalination plant within a time frame of 6 to 8 months. FWO has also committed to provide 0.2 MGD of desalinated water within the time frame of 3 months to overcome the scarcity of water in the port city in order to meditate the immediate needs.

FWO will setup this plant in 6 to 8 months but in order to address the instant acute water shortage, FWO has also committed to provide 0.2 MGD of clean drinkable water in three months’ time. Due to lack of rain and the resultant drought like situation this initiative of FWO has received huge appreciation from public and local residents of Gwadar.

 Indus Motor Co launches Clean Karachi Campaign

KARACHI (PR): Indus Motor Company (IMC) has initiated Clean Karachi Campaign across the city in partnership with Society for I Am Karachi (IAK).

Spread over 4 months, the drive aims not only to clean Karachi but to bring citizens together to foster a sense of civic responsibility, ownership and unity among the Karachiites for keeping their city clean and litter-free. The drive was initiated in an opening ceremony from the Umair Memorial Football Ground in Steel Town which was attended by members of IMC, IAK, civil society, and the local community.

The spirit shared by IMC at the ceremony was one that goes beyond producing cars. IMC believes in playing a leading role in owning the cities of Pakistan and partnering with local communities to make cities better, cleaner and vibrant places to live. Through this clean drive, IMC aims to share its Toyota philosophies that have made the company successful, with the local communities. One such concept is the 5S principle. These principles and concepts can be applied by citizens to every task that they do to become more efficient and deliver quality results while maintaining cleanliness and becoming more organized.
