KASUR - Police arrested eight persons during a vigorous crackdown on kite-flyers here the other day. The police also recovered string rolls and other kite flying material.

According to police, the operation was conducted in Kasur City, Khuddian, Ganda Singh Wala and Phoolnagar areas. The accused who were held during the operation included Sajan, Ghulam Fareed, Liaqat, Sahib, Kashif Maseeh, Saleem, Shafiq and Ashfaq.

Kasur DPO Zahid Nawaz Murawwat said in a message that all citizens are respectable for the police but law violation would not be tolerated. "Those involved in flying or manufacturing kite material will be dealt with sternly," he warned.

'Negligence' claims life

A man died at District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital due to alleged negligence of doctors here the other day.

Family of the deceased told The Nation that Abdus Sattar, 44, resident of Purana Lorry Adda felt pain in stomach and was taken to the hospital. The family alleged that the hospital staff did not treat him well which caused his death. The family members protested against the hospital management.

Hospital spokesman Dr Hafiz Yasin said that the patient was taken to the hospital in critical condition, adding that the doctors tried their best to save his life but failed.

Police reached the spot and negotiated with the family members at which they dispersed.
