ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf yesterday condemned alleged horse-trading for the Senate seats as it announced six candidates for the upcoming upper house polls from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The party also decided to disclose the names of those involved in horse-trading, said a statement.

Names for the Senate candidates were finalised in the meeting of the party’s parliamentary board held here at Bani Gala.

The party approved the names of Faisal Javed Khan, Fida Hussain, Azam Swati, Meher Taj Roghani, Khayal Zaman and Ayub Afridi for the Senate elections.

According to the details issued by the party’s central media department, an important meeting of media strategy group of PTI was also held at the chairman’s secretariat, Bani Gala, with PTI chief Imran Khan in the chair.

Central leaders of the party discussed in detail the ongoing political situation of the country.

A statement issued at the conclusion of the meeting stated PTI condemned horse trading in the strongest terms prior to the Senate elections.  “PTI condemned in the strongest terms horse trading for the Senate elections and decided to bring into the open those involved in it,” said the statement.

The PTI leadership also decided to bring into the open the elements involved in the heinous act of “marring the essence of democracy”. PTI reiterated it would go to the apex court seeking probe into Hudaibiya Paper Mills case.

The PTI leadership expressed grave concern over the recent wave of terrorism and strongly condemned the extrajudicial killing of one Mudassir in Kasur by the police. Condemning alleged police atrocities, PTI stated the ruling elite of the Punjab considered killing of innocent people legitimate.

PTI decided to approach the court of law for formation of a judicial commission to investigate the Kasur incident. The party also expressed grief over the casualties in Orange Line Train project and prayed for the recovery of the workers trapped under the rubble and demanded the government ensure transparency in the project. The party leaders also expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir in their struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination. They expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren fighting for the implementation of the UN resolutions to decide their future.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Imran Khan criticised Nawaz Sharif in a tweet a day after the PML-N head and his daughter Maryam Nawaz lashed out at the cricketer-turned-politician over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governance.

Former premier Nawaz Sharif, at the PML-N rally in Peshawar on Sunday, had appealed to the workers to elect his party with an overwhelming majority in the general election so that it could make laws to stop disqualification of an elected prime minister in future”. Both Nawaz and his daughter Maryam were critical of Khan and his party’s work in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“He can launder money, evade taxes, conceal assets and lie in the parliament; all corruption is permissible because PM is elected!” Khan said in a sarcastic tweet.

He also refuted Sharif’s claims of lack of development in KP, claiming work on 350 micro-hydel stations had been completed in the province, besides having undertaken police, health and education reforms.
