LAHORE - Pakistan No 1 woman tennis player Sarah Mahboob has sought financial help from Federal Sports Minister Syed Pir Aftab Shah Jilani for her trips to the Middle East where she intends to participate in the ITF Juniors Tournaments at Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Doha The events will start from January 16 and conclude on February 14. The youngest ever national champion at age 14, in a her written request to the minister, stated: "I have won each and every national title at least 3-4 times and beat all my opponents 5-6 times. I have maintained my number one position since 2005. As I have no personal sponsor for my coaching and training, I request the government to come to my rescue to sanction funds for my long-term 2009 plan and ITF Middle East trip." Her father Mahboob Khan, who is her coach and manager also, appealed to the Federal Sports Minister to save Sarah's career. He further said that 2009 was her last junior year and she would have a kickstart to her WTA ranking if she managed to add one more future title. He further said: "If there were no funds forthcoming, Sarah will be forced to quit tennis, but before she does that, we should try to explore all the available avenues."
