LAHORE - An accountability court on Tuesday extended physical remand till 19th of Haris Steel Mills Sheikh Muhammad Afzal, his wife Fareeha, two sons Haris and Hamza involved in Bank of Punjab Rs9 billion financial scam. The court also extended physical of accused Irfan Ali, Saleem Yaqoob and Wasim Yaqoob. Another accountability court sent Mukhtar Shah Gillani, a co-accused of Syed Sibtul Hassan alias Double Shah, an accused of defrauding public at large, on physical remand for 14 days. NAB had arrested Mukhtar Shah on Monday after the Lahore High Court dismissed his post-arrest bail. Mukhtar Shah was accused of looting public money to the tune of Rs180 million. Meanwhile, another accountability court adjourned till Jan 25 hearing of a reference against MNA Rana Nazir. The court asked his counsel to submit fresh power of attorney. Rana Nazir was earlier acquitted in the reference under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). Now after the cancellation of NRO by Supreme Court, the proceedings against him had been reopened.
