LAHORE-A group of PPP workers led by PPPs former Lahore President, Ch Asghar Gujjar has demanded of partys top leadership to appoint senior party leader Syed Asif Hashmi as new Punjab governor for his pro-worker approach. Talking to reporters at funeral of late Salmaan Taseer along with a bench of PPP workers, Asghar Gujjar said that majority of party workers, especially from Lahore, wanted Asif Hashmi to succeed Taseer who was also a pro-worker governor. He said that former Punjab governor had opened up Governors House for party workers and they were quite happy with him. In his view, Asif Hashmi was the only PPP leader who could win the hearts and minds of workers after Salmaan Taseer and galvanise the party in Punjab.
