LAHORE – The Lahore Electric Supply Company is enforcing loadshedding for 10 to 12 hours in its limit in the name of maintenance and repair work at its distribution system.

On Thursday, about half of the City’s grid stations remained off for persisting eight hours and the situation was likely to remain same on Friday (today).

The long hours shutdown turned the people’s life into hell. There was no water to drink and bath in some areas. Students could not go to schools and office workers could not attend their offices because the electricity was off in the areas especially Johar Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Green Town and Muslim Town on Thursday morning at 7am. Though the Company has been making public its ‘long’ shutdown schedule for various areas since Monday and stating the maintenance work as main reason behind the blackout, the LESCO’s sources say the vast gap between electricity supply and demand is the major reason behind the huge loadshedding.
