UNITED NATIONS - Pakistan threw its weight behind a Russian move for a full-scale investigation into the civilian casualties in Libya during NATO’s deadly bombing campaign to help the Libyan dissidents overthrow Col. Muammar Gaddafi’s regime from power, according to informed sources.

The United States and France are strongly resisting such a probe. During a closed-door Security Council discussion on Libya on Wednesday, the sources said Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon told the 15-member body that his delegation would support Russia’s proposal for a Council-mandated probe.
