LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif called on Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on Thursday. Turkish Prime Minister warmly greeted the Chief Minister and expressed heartiest well wishes on his behalf and on behalf of the people of Turkey for the people of Pakistan, says a handout.

During the meeting which lasted for more than an hour, both the leaders agreed to enhance the bilateral cooperation and promote strong economic ties. Shahbaz Sharif, while expressing his gratitude to the Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, termed his Turkey visit extremely memorable and a milestone for the progress and prosperity of the people of Pakistan especially the Punjab. Apprising the Turkish Prime Minister of the economic relations between Punjab and Turkey, the Punjab Chief Minister said Turkish government and investors could enhance cooperation with Pakistan in various sectors including energy, transport and infrastructure.

He informed about the activities of Government of Turkey and various Turkish organisations in different sectors in Punjab so far and expressed the hope that the joint cooperation would further increase in the coming days. Tayyip Erdogan assured Shahbaz Sharif that Turkey would extend all out cooperation for improving economic condition of Pakistan.

He said both the countries had same values and were desirous to have best friendly ties between both the countries and Turkey would give priority to the ongoing projects in Pakistan.

The Turkish Prime Minister expressed well wishes for the people of Pakistan and termed the visit of Punjab Chief Minister to Turkey as an important step.
