KARACHI – Three political workers among five people were killed in different parts of the metropolis on Saturday.

An activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was gunned down and his brother wounded in Sir Syed police precincts.

Police said that the victims namely Shahzad, 28, and his injured brother Dilshad, 22, were running their puncture shop. They were targeted by two armed men riding a motorcycle who opened fire on them. The victim’s father Iqbal was also present at the shop but he remained safe in the attack. After getting information police rushed to the spot and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and medical treatment. Police suspected the recent wave of target killing the motive behind the attack.

Two workers of Sunni Tehreek (ST) were shot dead in New Karachi area within the limits of Bilal Colony police station.

Police said that deceased were identified as Abdul Razzak, 32, and Muhammad Ali, 30. The deceased including Razzak and Ali, residents of Surjani Town, were standing in the street where two armed men riding a motorcycle came close to them and started indiscriminate firing on them.

Resultantly, they sustained multiple bullet injuries and taken to ASH where they breathed their last. ST spokesman Fahim Sheikh said that deceased persons were associated with the ST New Karachi sector.

He said three ST workers had been gunned down in two days which proved government’s failure. Police said that both victims had criminal record as cases of police encounter and possessing illegal weapon were registered against them. He said that the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained while further investigation was underway.

A man was shot dead in SITE area within the jurisdiction of SITE-A area police station.

Police said that the victim Dil Rehman, 35, was killed over a personal dispute by his brother. Police said initial investigation suggested that the victim’s brother Salamat Jan was behind the killing.

A body of a young man was recovered from Malir Cantt area within the jurisdiction Malir Cantt police station.

Police said that deceased was shot once in his head, adding that police suspected that the deceased was the suspected robber as police have found a snatched cellphone from his possession. His body was shifted to morgue after postmortem at the JPMC.

ABDUCTED INFANT RECOVERED: Anti Violent Crime Cell managed to recover an infant of two-month-old from a private hospital within the remits of Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station on Saturday.

According to details, the AVCC conducted a raid at a private hospital located in Gulshan area on a tip off and recovered an abducted kid namely Sumair from the custody of kidnappers. Police said that they had conducted a raid on a tip off. The accused was arrested from Liaquatabad namely Humair who kidnapped the infant.

The officials said that kidnappers demanded Rs2 million ransom money to the abductee’s father Farooq. Police said that the kidnappers were the relatives of the abducted infant. On suspicion, police detained his relative who during interrogation revealed that the boy was admitted to a private hospital due to illness.
