ISLAMABAD - Former Air Chief Marshal, Muhammad Anwar Shamim, was laid to rest at H-11 graveyard with profound military honours here on Saturday.

Anwar Shamim, the former Chief of Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force NI (M), HI(M), SI (M),   Sitara-i-Jurrat and war veteran of 1965 and 71 wars,  expired due to prolonged illness on 4 January. Earlier, the funeral prayer was held at PAF Complex, Air Headquarters. The funeral parade was attended by Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, Admiral Asif Sindhela, Chief of Naval Staff, Ex PAF Air Chiefs, ambassadors/diplomats, war veterans, military officials of brotherly countries, senior civil and military officials of tri-services, senior journalists and people from all walks of life. 

The family members of late Air Chief Marshal (Retd) Muhammad Anwar Shamim were also present. After the burial, the wreaths were laid at the grave of the deceased on behalf of President of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief of the Air Staff, Governor Punjab, retired air chiefs and other dignitaries.

The “Qul” of the deceased will be offered at his residence, House # 09, Street # 02, F-6/3, on Monday at 02:00pm.
