DASKA - The City Police smashed inter-district gang "Rashid alias Rashu Kaana Gang" and arrested its ringleader Rashid alias Rashu Kaana and his two accomplices Muhammad Akram alias Shani and Abbas Nazir.
DPO Afzaal Ahmed Kausar disclosed this while talking to media here the other day.
DSP Muhammad Waseem Akhtar, senior member District Peace Committee Zafar Malik and President Daska Bar Association Abdul Latif Ghani Mayo were also present on the occasion.
The DPO said that the gang was a sign of terror in the region which was wanted by police in 18 heinous nature cases, as the accused used to loot people in such foggy weather by creating pickets with trees on the main and link roads.
The police also recovered three vehicles, five motorcycles and a large quantity of illegal weapons from them.
On the occasion, DSP Waseem Akhtar said that the City Police also busted two other gangs of robbers and - namely Asad alias Asadi Gang and Asif alias Aasu Gang. He said that the police arrested 710 notorious proclaimed offenders (POs) and traced out five blind murder cases during the last year.
He said that the police also recovered stolen and snatched property including valuables worth of Rs35 million during the corresponding period.
Meanwhile, local journalist Darrey Khan's newly born son died after a short illness here the other day. He was laid to rest in Shaheedaan Graveyard in the presence of hundreds of mourners from all walks of life.
