LAHORE – PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday called on UAE President UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi His Highness Sheikh Kalifa nin Zayed-Al-Nahyan at his camp office Rojhan in district Rajanpur.

According to a handout issued here, matters of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting. Nawaz Sharif thanked UAE President for sparing some time to visit Pakistan. He said that the visit of UAE President to Pakistan is a matter of an honour for them and this visit is a clear proof of his love and friendship with the people of Pakistan.

Nawaz said UAE is making tremendous progress under his sagacious and visionary leadership and UAE has not only achieved progress during the tenure of his great father but today UAE is considered a modern welfare state of the world.

Nawaz further said that UAE is the second home of Pakistanis and thousands of Pakistanis are playing their active role in the development and prosperity of UAE. He thanked the UAE President UAE for extending cooperation in development projects, charity programmes and during natural calamities.

Talking on this occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that UAE has always supported Pakistan and its people in every hour of trial and both the countries are bonded with deep and strong brotherly relations.  The UAE President, while expressing his good wishes for Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, said that he considers Pakistan his second home and equally shares the grief and joys of the Pakistani people.

INP adds: Nawaz Sharif has said the country cannot move on the path of development and progress without democracy.

The PML-N chief was talking to Jamiat-e-Ahle-e-Hadith Chief Senator Sajid Mir who called on him at Jati Umra on Saturday.

During the meeting, both the leaders discussed the prevailing political situation and other current issues of the country. They also agreed to cooperate for strengthening democracy and solving the problems facing the people. They also demanded holding of the upcoming general polls as per schedule according to the Constitution.

During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif said institutions of the country could not be strengthened without democracy. He said remote-controlled people were befooling the people by talking of electoral reforms and bringing change in the country, adding their nefarious agenda would be foiled.  The PML-N chief said democracy would be protected at any cost and general elections held on time. He said undemocratic forces brought the country to the verge of destruction.

He was of the firm belief that only democracy could safeguard the integrity of the country.
