Speedy hearing of Bhutto’s case demanded

KARACHI - The 85th birth anniversary of former prime minister and founder of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was observed on Saturday by the PPP workers.
A special cake cutting ceremony was held at the PPP’s media cell in the City, where Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, senior minister for education and ruling PPP’s parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Pir Mazharul Haq, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, party leaders and lawmakers took part and paid tribute to their party’s founding leader.
Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while addressing the ceremony said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto did lot for the nation including giving the nation a consensus constitution, besides, he strengthened the country’s defence line by initiating the nuclear programme.
Khuhro further said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto created awareness among the common man for his/her rights including the right to vote, adding that Bhutto sacrificed his life for the rights of the people.He said those who an nounced long march to Islamabad were under the shelter of Pervez Musharraf, and became the mouthpiece of the former dictator.
Criticising Tahirul Qadri’s move of long march, he said that the long march holders had taken the name of the Pak Army and judiciary for their role in formation of caretaker government and their impression was that both the institutions accompanied them. So, these institutions should have taken notice of Tahirul Qadri’s claims, he demanded.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon paid rich tribute to the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, saying that Quaid-e-Awam founded the Pakistan Peoples Party to give power to the poor, the downtrodden and dispossessed sections of the society.
The information minister added that first directly elected prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave Pakistan the first representative constitution with full fundamental rights, guaranteeing women and minorities’ parliamentary rights.  Memon said that Supreme Court had lot of time for other cases but it had no time for hearing the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s case. He urged the apex court for speedy hearing of the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s case. Like the conspiracy was hatched against Zulfikar Ali Bhutto by forming rulers in 70’s, today also some elements are active in their conspiracies to derail the democratic process. He vowed that all conspiracies would be foiled with the cooperation of all the democratic forces.
Senior minister for education in Sindh cabinet and parliamentary leader of ruling PPP in Sindh Assembly, Pir Mazharul Haq while speaking on this occasion said that Quaid-e-Awam was committed to building peace. The Simla Agreement, which he negotiated, with India holds peace for the longest duration in Indo Pak history, besides he put foundations of progress and development in the country.
Senator Saeed Ghani, PPP leaders Waqar Mahdi, Rashid Rabani, MPA Humera Alwani and others were attended the ceremony.
