SIALKOT - At least two persons died of severe cold in the district here on Saturday. Reportedly, an unknown addict, appeared to be about 56-year-old died of cold near General Bus in Sambrial while 62-year-old Bashir Ahmed (62) died of cold in Pasrur city.

The entire Sialkot region remained in grip of severe cold as the mercury dropped to 4 degrees Celsius. The region was in grip of severe cold due to the cold winds coming from icy Alps of neighbouring Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. There was no sun for the last two days.  All the trade, business, civic and social activities also remained paralyzed. People preferably stayed indoor and enjoyed this foggy, cold and misty weather without having electricity and gas.

On the other hand, several cattle and hundreds of birds reportedly died of severe cold in such dense foggy, misty and chilly weather in the open along the banks of River Chenab here. According to the officials concerned of the local MET office, the foggy weather will persist for next couple of days.
