LAHORE - An anti terrorism court yesterday dismissed an application of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) against indictment of its 42 workers in Model Town incident.

PAT’s counsel Rai Bashir argued even though the party was also complainant in one of the FIRs registered about the incident, its workers had been indicted.

He requested the court to hear the party’s version and stop proceedings on the indictment. He maintained the accused had not been involved in the charges leveled against them.

However, the court observed that post indictment proceedings could not stopped at this stage because the witnesses were being produced to give testimony about the incident. The court directed the prosecution to produce the witnesses and adjourned further hearing until Jan 7.
