ISLAMABAD - Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) yesterday arrested two human smugglers from Rawalpindi as part of its ongoing drive against human smugglers.

FIA Director Inam Ghani said that one human smugger was arrested during a raid at Rahat Bakery located in Saddar area of Rawalpindi while another one was arrested from a plaza near Chohar Chowk, Rawalpindi.

The FIA’s ongoing drive against human smugglers is very significant as Pakistan is facing threat to be downgraded further from the Tier II to Tier III Watch List of US State Department. The list is prepared on the basis of human trafficking conditions in each country.

According to details, a team of FIA Islamabad zone conducted a raid at Rahat Bakery and one human smuggler namely Yasir Qayum s/o Abdul Qayum, a resident of Kashkar Tehsil in district Muzaffarbad, was arrested and three passports were recovered from him.

In yet another raid of FIA at Ali Plaza Chohar Chowk Rawalpindi, a human smuggler namely Haq Nawaz s/o Abdul Akbar, a resident of Nosheran Kalan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was arrested. The FIA team recovered 19 passports and five fake driving licences from him. He was operating office as travelling agent with the name of Aizaz Enterprises from three months without any authority as the owner is already in jail.
