Women robbed at toy gunpoint

RAWALPINDI - The women in a house were shocked to find themselves at gunpoint after a robber entered their home in Sadiqabad area on early Tuesday morning.
However, the amateur robber’s plan backfired when his victims realised he was holding a toy gun. The robber fled having looted two gold earrings after the women he made hostage started screaming for help.
Police are investigating the incident after receiving a call from the neighbours.
The robber entered in the house of Arshad located at Anwar Colony, New Shakrial, Near Government Faiz Ul Islam High School at 6:30am and held the entire family members hostage at gunpoint. “Raise your hands and give me the jewellery and cash. Else I will shoot you all,” yelled the robber, pointing a gun at the shocked ladies and children.
They were preparing breakfast and getting the children’s clothing ready before sending them to school. In the meanwhile, one of the women realised that the robber was holding toy gun and she started screaming for help. The robber pounced upon a woman and snatched two gold earrings from her and escaped through the window, a neighbour said.
Nonetheless, the women reported police that robber looted Rs10,000 and gold jewellery from their house. People also gathered there on hearing the noise of women but could not catch the fleeing robber. Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station (PS) Malik Allah Yar told The Nation that it was yet to verify he was holding a real gun or toy. “A woman told the police that the robber was holding a toy gun,” he added.
