CHITRAL-A Pakistani-American citizen hunted a large Markhor with 47 inches horns after paying $120,000 to Wildlife Department as hunting trophy fee.

Markhor is a large species of wild goat listed as near threatened. Markhor is also national animal of Pakistan.

According to Divisional Forest Office (DFO), Wild Life Chitral. Markhor population has been increased due to proper care in the district that raised to over 3,000. Mir Hasanatuddin, general secretary of Alburkhan Village conservancy committee, told this scribe that due to implementing of VCC local community protects Markhor and saves them from illegal hunting.

He said that 80% fund from Markhor hunting trophy is distributed in local community and 20% deposited to the government exchequer of Wildlife Department. The money is spent on development activities of the areas.

Shazada Gul said that a number of developmental schemes and plan were completing from the hunting trophy fund.
