In-form Kamran, Salman steer Wapda to win over PTV

Departments One Day Cup 2017-18

LAHORE - Captain Salman Butt and wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal batted Wapda to convincing 3-wicket victory over Pakistan Television in the round five match of the Departments One Day Cup 2017-18 played at Hyderabad on Friday.

Both the openers provided a solid start to Wapda to chase the required target of 301 runs. Both the openers punished PTV bowlers at their will and kept the clock ticking. When Kamran Akmal was all set to score a fifty, he was sent packing by Ali Imran off M Irfan at his individual score of 42 off 49, hitting 3 fours and as many sixes. Skipper Salman Butt also played dazzling knock of 102-ball 102 runs, laced with 9 fours.

Kamran has displayed outstanding performance not only in the National T20 Cup but also started the National One-Day Cup in a great style scoring a century for his team in the very first encounter and guiding his team Wapda to a tremendous triumph. He, along with former Pakistan captain Salman Butt, are knocking at the selectors’ doors through their consecutive outstanding performances and they are committed to do so, till they are finally given the chance in the national team.

Aamir Sajjad was another batsman from Wapda, who had a significant contribution in Wapda’s win as he hammered 51-ball 54 runs hitting 4 fours and 1 six while Khushdil Shah scored 23-ball 23 runs and Mansoor Amjad 21. Only M Irfan could bowl well for PTV by bagging 3-78, but his bowling brilliance couldn’t help his team register victory.

Earlier helped by skipper Saud Shakeel and Nihal Mansoor, PTV posted a decent total of 300 runs on the board losing all their wickets in 49.5 overs. Saud Shakeel hammered 94 runs of 89 balls with the help of 11 fours and 1 six while he was ably assisted by Nihal Mansoor (49), Shahid Ilyas (39), Taimur Khan (38) and M Yasin (21) as no other batsman could score big.
