BAHAWALPUR - An 11-year-old boy who had gone missing a month and half ago, was found murdered in sugarcane fields in Yazman here. According to police sources, resident of Yazman 11-year-old Kashif, a second-grader, had gone missing about one and half months ago. The family searched the boy hectically and upon failure, got a case registered with police. On Friday, some passersby spotted a dead body, lying in worst condition in sugarcane field and informed the police. The police shifted the dead body to hospital where he was identified as Kashif.The police registered a case against Khalid Jutt and his two accomplices for allegedly kidnapping the boy. The police, however, sent the dead body to hospital for post-mortem and started further investigation. Talking to the media, the police official suspected that the boy might have been murdered after being sexually assaulted. They said that it is premature to confirm any such suspicion and the autopsy would ascertain the facts surrounded death of the boy.

Police fail to recover girl

kasur - Police have failed to recover a seven-year-old girl who had gone missing from Road Kot locality about three days ago. Zainab, 7, daughter of Amin Ansari, went to Madrasa to study Quran but did not return till evening. Her parents searched her everywhere but in vain. They informed the A-Division police and the police launched investigation but failed to recover the girl. Police failure has concerned the parents greatly. Locals including lawyers, journalists, traders and social figures demanded the police spare no effort for early recovery of the girl. It is to be noted that there were at least nine minor girls who had been abducted and strangled after rape over the past eight months in Kasur district. The culprits are still beyond the police noose.

Girl abducted, raped in captivity

OKARA - A girl was allegedly raped during three-day captivity by the suspects who had abducted her from her house in the absence of her parents here the other day. Shama, resident of Wan Lakha, Gogera and his wife had gone to Faisalabad to attend the marriage of a relative, leaving behind their three daughters behind. In their absence, Shafiq and Ashraf along with two unknown armed men entered the house. They gagged and tied up "N", one of the daughters of Shama, and took her to a nearby village where Shafiq allegedly raped her. After three days, the girl got a chance to escape and fled to her home. Gogera police registered a case against the accused.


Unidentified armed men fired indiscriminate shots on the car carrying a senior lawyer and his family back home here the other day. Mehmoodur Rehman Lashari, resident of Bama Bala, told the Okara Saddr police that he along with his family was on the way back home in their car. As they reached Lower Bari Doab Canal Road, two unknown armed men fired opened fire on the car. However, he and his family remained safe. The police registered a case and launched investigation.
