KASUR-Saddr police claimed on Thursday to have arrested three members of notorious Achi dacoit gang including the ringleader.

According to police, the accused identified as Ashraf alias Achi (ringleader), Rashid and Saleem alias Saleemi were wanted by the police in 38 cases of murder, dacoity, robbery, theft and illegal arms like heinous crime. The police recovered Rs150,000 cash, 11 cell phones, gold jewellery and illegal weapons from their possession. It was a five-member gang and had been involved in highway robberies and dacoities in the district since long. They did not hesitate to open fire on people for resistance. A special team was formed on the orders of Kasur DPO Zulfiqar Ahmed for arrest of the culprits. The team under the supervision of DSP Saddr Circle Akram Bajwa successfully traced out the gang members and busted three of them. Raids are being conducted for arrest of the remaining two. The DPO announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the team members for their brilliant performance.

WOMAN ENDS LIFE, MAN CRUSHED

A woman committed suicide over domestic issues and an elderly man was crushed to death in an attempt to board a moving train here on Thursday.

According to Phoolnagar Saddr police, Yasmeen, 20, was married off to Saleem, resident of Balake Singh. She developed differences with husband over worst financial circumstances. On Thursday, she argued with her husband over the issue and poured toxic chemical down into her throat. Resultantly, her condition became critical and she was rushed to hospital but could not survive. The police are investigating.

In another incident, a 65-year-old man, Mustafa Kamal, resident of Charsada, attempted to board a Peshawar-bound moving train, Awami Express, at Pattoki Railway Station. The deceased was on a Tablighi trip with Jamaat. The train, coming from Karachi, had a brief stay at Pattoki Station and Mustafa Kamal went to offer prayers. By the time he responded to the sounds of the train's horn, it was near to leave the station. He rushed back and attempted to board the moving train but failed. He fell down on the track and crushed to death under wheels of the train.
