LAHORE - An elderly couple from Multan, who was subjected to torture by police a few days ago, met Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif at his Model Town residence on Friday.

Muhammad Idrees, his wife Nasim and daughter Mediha thanked the chief minister for resolving their 30 years old issue and said they were thankful to the chief minister from the core of their hearts. Nasim said the issue pertaining to their land had been resolved and they were happy about it. “The chief minister has won our hearts by announcing financial aid for the marriage of my two daughters. The chief minister has come as a strong support to our hapless family to provide justice to us,” she said.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that providing solution to their problem was his duty. He said the issue had been amicably settled and he was happy that the long-awaited issue had been resolved at last. “I had promised to you that justice will be ensured and now the problem has been solved in accordance with the law,” he said. The chief minister also announced Rs500,000 each for two daughters of the family as financial grant for their marriage.
