LAHORE - A petition on Friday was moved to the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the unabated sale of fake drinks, including packed juices and carbonated drinks in markets.

Advocate Ikhlaq Ahmad Chatha moved the petition in the SC Lahore registry and submitted that sale of substandard cold drinks was on the rise in local markets. Authorities have turned a blind eye to the issue that has been playing with the life of citizens, he said, adding that the sale of bottled drinks had been banned in the schools while no notice or action had been taken against the sale of carbonated drinks being sold everywhere. The lawyer said the WHO declared carbonate dangerous for human health. He asked the court to ban the sale of substandard and poor cold drinks.
