Unity, faith and discipline are the three words given to us by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and these are those golden principles on which the building of Pakistan was erected. At that time majority were against the implementation of western democratic principles. So, Muslims wanted a country for Islamic implementation. Unity among Muslims was necessary that was controlled by faith and to be suc-cessful in this movement discipline was necessary. Pakistan has to be surviving on these three principles but where we are standing these days...? In the recent operation against Taliban Pakistan is facing a huge calamity but unfortunately instead of showing our opposition to the terrorists our political leaders are chatting about Bahawalpur and Saraiki Provinces. We are fighting on the self-created issues of canal water and its distribution among the provinces. Instead of solving it through table talk our leaders are playing "blame game" with each other. The state of discipline is visible from the quarrel of women MPAs of Punjab Assembly after the budget session, fight between two groups of lawyers in Lahore High Court for presidential candidate. The golden principles of Islam were reminded to us by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and these are in our roots. If we weaken our roots no one can stop super powers and terrorists to triumph over us. - MARIA ILYAS KHAN BALOCH, Lahore, via e-mail, July 3.
