ISLAMABAD Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira Monday said that All Parties Conference would shortly be convened to evolve the national consensus against recent wave of terrorism. A high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister also decided to activate National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) and thoroughly review the National Policy against Terrorism, said Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira , addressing a press conference soon after attending the Inter-Provincial Conference held at PM Secretariat to review the law and order situation in the country. He was also flanked by Minister for Interior Rehman Malik. Talking about NCTA operation, he said that authority would also be helpful in identifying root causes of terrorism. Kaira further said that with the consultation of all the parties, the date of the national conference would be decided soon. He said the Prime Minister also gave directions for carrying out Madressa Reforms after dialogue with all the stakeholders. Minister said that Prime Minister (PM) had appealed to the nation to get united against terrorism and extremism. To a question, Kaira clarified that Federal and Provincial government were sharing intelligence information with each other adding that the PM had ordered to further organise that practice for smooth flow of information so that unhappy incident could be avoided. Talking about the foreign donors, Minister said that commitments by foreign donors were fast maturing. He said that in order to solve the problems of people resources would surely be provided to the provinces. Kaira further said that Yousuf Raza Gilani in the meeting had given instructions that necessary amendments in Anti-Terrorism Act should be introduced soon to bring the perpetrators of crime to the book. When asked about any planning to place curbs on media, Minister said that there was no planning in that regard and that already had been negated. To a question, Interior Minister clarified that he had no differences with Punjab regarding the menace of terrorism. Our cause is same to eliminate terrorism, he said adding that there might be some misunderstanding. Rehman Malik further categorically stated that the activities of all banned organization would be stopped. When asked about the operation in Punjab, Rehman Malik said that there was no planning to start any operation in the Punjab. He further said that the banned organisations recruited people and dispatched them to FATA for training and terrorist activities. He said the Prime Minister had given instructions that there should be an effective check on the activities of all the banned organisations. The Minister said he would chalk out a plan of action for the purpose after consultations with the chief ministers.
