ISLAMABAD Top national athletes from 15 organisations will display their skills in the 42nd National Athletics Championship which starts from Tuesday (today) here at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex. Chairman Organizing Committee Brig Iqtidar Naseer told reporters in a press conference that boys would compete in 22 disciplines while females in 20 disciplines during the four-day national event. We have given the final touches to held the national events in benefiting manners, he viewed. Iqtadar further said that top athletes would be awarded cash prizes and winners would pocket Rs.20, 000. Army will defend mens title and WAPDA womens title. Around 120 qualified technical officials will conduct the national event at Jinnah Stadium, he asserted. Responding to a question, he said that the winners would undergo doping tests which will be conducted by Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). We will also collect random samples of some players during the competition.
