PESHAWAR At least five persons including four alleged suicide bombers and a personnel of the security forces were killed and 14 others including 11 security personnel and two passers by were injured as a result of the suicide and hand grenade attacks at the main gat of the scout cantonment in Temargara area of district Dir on Monday. Sources said that militants also opened fire before the attack while later a suicide member blew himself up in front of the main gate of the scout cantonment. The attack was engineered as hand grenade and aerial firing also followed the suicide attack. According to the ISPR sources, four militants were also killed in retaliation as security forces foiled the major sabotage bid and killed four armed militants besides destroying their explosive-laden vehicles. In the wake of the result, security was put on red alert while security forces strongly retaliated the militants suspected hideouts in the area. Soon after the blast rescue teams and ambulances rushed towards the blast site and contributed in the relief activities. The injured persons were shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Temargara where one of the injured persons succumbed to injuries. Police and officers of the Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. They collected the remnants of the suicide bomber for further investigation. The police chief of Upper Dir and DCO also visited the site to examine the law and order situation. Unannounced curfew was clamped in the area while security forces also started search operation to arrest the suspected militants. No arrest has been made after the incident, however, search operation is underway to arrest the persons responsible for the incident.
