MULTAN - Punjab Prisons Minister Ch Abdul Waheed Arain disclosed on Friday that a survey of all major routes in Multan for launching Metro Bus Service was done and the project proposal was sent to Lahore for final approval.
He revealed this while talking to different delegations of citizens here at his residence. He added that the Metro Bus Project would soon be executed with a view to offering transport facilities to the public. He said that the PML-N government was determined to get the masses rid of loadshedding as Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif signed a number of MoUs with Chinese companies for launching power generation projects. He said that the work on Chichu ki Mallian and Nandipur projects in Punjab had resumed and the power generation would start soon.
MEPCO SETS UP TEAMS: The Mepco formed on Friday 30 teams on the orders of Punjab government to launch crackdown on power pilferers in Multan circle. Mepco sources said that the teams would carry out action against power thieves on daily basis with the collaboration of task forces, M&T, M&S and Surveillance Team and submit their reports on daily basis.
Sources added that six teams were constituted for crackdown in Cantt division, nine Mumtazabad, six city, six Moosa Pak and six Shujabad. Meanwhile, the raiding teams caught 38 power thieves red handed and imposed fine worth Rs. 14 million on them. The Mepco authorities also submitted applications to different police stations for registration of cases against them.
Dropout: 38 headmasters served show-case: On the special direction of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, EDO (Education) Muhammad Sohaib Imran Chaudhry has served show case notices to Headmasters of 38 schools who failed to maintain enrolment of the students due to which drop rate increased to 50 per cent in the district.
Talking to the newsmen here, he said that these schools included four from Tehsil Alipur, 14 from Kot Addu, six from Tehsil Jatoi and 14 from Tehsil Muzaffargarh.
