PESHAWAR - Awami National Party Parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak discarded the proposed plan of the provincial government regarding privatisation Khyber Bank and said that the bank has contributed significantly for promoting business activities in war-torn Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that the bank has more than Rs 126 billion assets out of which Rs 80 billion belongs to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that certain shareholders within the ruling party are forcing the government to privatise this vital business institute of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He added that Bank of Khyber has played vital role in the economic development of the province and those who are dreaming to sell it on contemptible rate that would be resisted all cost.

He mentioned that instead of taking steps to promote business activities and establish stock exchange in the province, the provincial government has deprived the people from the already available resources.

He called upon the government to generate employment resources and take practical steps for establishing stock exchange in the province.
